The benchmark Rutherglen Muscadelle. It exhibits golden amber colours and typical cold leaf tea characters with a luscious palate of malty toffee and vanilla flavours. Blended from wines aged for a decade or more in oak and showing a gorgeous balance of youthful fruit and aged complexity. Sip with blue cheeses such as Stilton, or enjoy with cheese or cream based desserts such as tiramisu.
Originally thought to come from the Hungarian Tokai variety, it is now accepted that these wines are made from the Muscadelle grape, a white variety. The long, warm Autumn days in Rutherglen allow the fruit to ripen to the high Baume levels and raisining so essential for the style.
